Solution to Fix AVG Antivirus detected MapleStory.exe as Virus (Uses Themida Protection)

Hi guys,

I face a problem with the lastest maple patch.

a message said:

C:\program files\WIZETMAPLESTORY\Maplestory.exe
Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.

also my AVG mention the following:

Multiple threat detection

File
C:\Program Files\\WIZET\Maplestory\Mplestory.exe

Infection
Virus identified Win32/Themida

Result

Does that mean Maplestory new patch have virus?
anyone can help me to solve this problem?
I have tried to delete the whole Maplestory and re- download but it does not works. The Maplestory.exe icon is missing.

Please help to advise, thank you

Solution?

Dear Maplers,

It has come to our attention that AVG has been giving problems to our players, detecting Maplestory.exe as a virus. In response to your feedback, the developer has brought this case up to AVG. A positive reply has been received and AVG has added Maple Story’s files to the list of trusted programmes. We would like to request Maplers to download the newest version of AVG – AVG 9 – to experience a smoother gameplay. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you very much for your continued support towards Maple Story.

For players who had their Maplestory.exe removed by AVG AntiVirus, please follow the steps below to recover them:

1. Open AVG
2. Select ‘Computer Scanner’ tab
3. Select ‘View Virus Vault’
4. Select ‘Maplestory.exe’ and select ‘Restore As’
5. Find ur MapleStory folder and click on ‘OK’

i found that the only way to play maple when avg is up and running and you still have the warning even though you have out maplestory underneath your exceptions is to turn off your resident shield when you play and turn it on after you are done mapling

hi ayumi i’ve been on ur website searching for guides for months and most of them work pretty well. but if you ever wanted to activate maple without all those fuss, you can search for prescanned programs from the internet to disable antiviruses from checking certain programs like maple, or just disable that command if that antivirus allows it. hope this helps!

If AVG said ‘Access denied’ when you try to put it into your MapleStory folder, then you select another folder (desktop is also ok) and click ok. Afterwards, just cut-and-paste the MapleStory.exe into your Maplestory folder. Your AVG will try to stop it again, so you click ‘Ignore’ and it should be okay onwards.

    1. Open AVG
    2. Select ‘Computer Scanner’ tab
    3. Select ‘View Virus Vault’
    4. Select ‘Maplestory.exe’ and select ‘Restore As’
    5. Find ur MapleStory folder and click on ‘OK’ —-*Change this into:-
    a. Select ‘Desktop’
    b. Click ‘OK’
    c. Right-click and choose ‘Cut’ on your MapleStory.exe in Desktop
    d. Paste the MapleStory.exe onto your MapleStory folder
    (Usually C:\Program Files\WIZET\MapleStory)
    e. Click ‘Ignore’ when AVG tries to heal/quarantine it into Virus Vault

It will start to transfer and paste the MapleStory.exe into the MapleStory folder now. So, if you want to see whether it works, double-click on the MapleStory.exe itself (NOT the short-cut) and it will open, and you’ll be able to play the game. It worked for me, so I hope it works for you too. Good luck :)

    Note: Mine is AVG 8.5
