Title: MapleStory 2nd Job Thief – Bandit Skills, Bandit Skill Build (Skill Allocation) with Explanation!

Requirement: Level 30
Head back to Thieves’ Hideaway once you’ve reached Lv 30, which is located at the cafe in Kerning City. Go inside, talk to Dark Lord. He’ll give you a letter and you’ve to pass it to the job advancement instructor near Kerning City. After giving the letter, you’ll be given an errand to collect 30 Dark Marbles by defeating the monsters inside. Be careful to stock your potions up before you start collecting the 30 Dark Marbles. Once you’ve collected 30 Dark Marbles, talk to the instructor, and he’ll award you with a Proof of a Hero. Go back to Kerning City Thieves’ Hideaway, and talk to Dark Lord once again, where then you’ll advance as the Bandit.

How to read this skill build? 16 – 18 means Level 16, 17 and 18 [Level 16 to 18]. For 20 – 20, it means only Level 20. The guide below is purely a personal recommendation and need not be followed. Each skill listed below has advices/tips shared by senior players to guide you in building your character!

Pearl of Knowledge:
Bandit specializes in close combat where they attack monsters from close. They could steal monster items by using Steal (optional skill). Bandit could attack 6 times using Savage Blow, but its pretty difficult to maintain your distance between monster. If you move to close to the monster, you end up bumping the monster frequently, thus wasting HP Potions (although your high avoidability might help a little in avoiding them).

Below is the hierarchy order of Pirate advancement: [Thief Main Page]
Pirate -> Gunslinger -> Vaklyrie (Outlaw) -> Captain (Corsair)
Pirate -> Infighter (Brawler) -> Buccaneer (Marauder) -> Viper (Buccaneer)

61 – 66 : Endure 3 [MAX]
67 – 67 : Endure 1 [MAX], Dark Sight 2 [MAX]

Dagger Mastery 20 [MAX] / Dagger Booster 20 [MAX] / Haste 20 [MAX] / Endure 20 [MAX]
Savage Blow 30 [MAX] / Dark Sight +2 [MAX] / Steal [9/30]

Endure is added at the end which is the time you train on higher level monsters located in El Nath (cold area) that requires Endure healing protection or Aquarium (water world). 9 Free SP to be allocated into Steal or anything that you wish.

dagger-masteryDagger Mastery
Increases the dagger mastery and accuracy. It only applies when the character has a dagger in hand. This skill basically increases your minimum damage from 10% to 60% at max level. This skill is a must to max else the damage you dish out would be unstable. So it would be harder to predict how many hits should it take to kill the monster.

For example, your max damage is 1000 (determine by your primary stats and weapon attack) and your minimum damage is based on X% of your max damage. (10% mastery by default if no dagger mastery). Suppose you are training on a high hp monster that requires 200% damage to KO, each hit you made would be at random: 80%, 50%, 12%, 30% (4 hits or more without dagger mastery) However, if you have max mastery dagger, it would be 60% and above: 98%, 67%, 75% (3 hits with max dagger mastery)

Is it true they’re making steal a mob atk? If that’s true, then should steal become more important than endure because it’ll be a good mob atk early on?

  7. 08/02/2010 at 10:45 pm

ummm @Hunter, you add the rest into dark sight because if you max dark sight, then you’re no longer slowed down, and instead, you can use haste to overlap dark sight. That way, you can like run through some dangerous area at the speed of Haste while not getting hit at all. :D
And @Please, maple requires that you use all sp earned BEFORE you make your 3rd job advancement, so you can’t save them.

  8. ohana
    17/01/2010 at 5:16 pm

does the attack speed increase as more sp are put into booster, or is it increasing attack speed just as much at lvl 1 as it is at lvl 20? trying to find some sp to max steal with the upcoming patches that make it a mob attack.
you might want to put in some notes about skill builds changing once those patches are put into effect.

Steal is useful in Orbis PQ, as you can recover the seeds from the Nependeath on the pots in the Garden without killing them, giving you more than enough seeds to check all the pots and still keep the pots marked. It’s also possible to use it in all other Orbis PQ stages with monsters to steal statue pieces or small statue pieces without engaging in combat, thus saving MP. However, outside of Orbis PQ, Steal doesn’t see much use. Therefore, it is usually recommended to max Endure and add remaining SP to Steal. However, I believe that Steal may see more uses in the future. I am currently unsure whether Steal works on bosses, but if it does, it will be very good for procuring valuable items from major bosses such as Zakum and Horned Tail.
