Title: MapleStory 1st Job Warrior – Spearman Skills, Speaman Skill Build (Skill Allocation) with Explanation!

Requirement: Level 30
Head back to Shrine of Warriors once you’ve reached Lv 30, which is located at the highest point of Perion. Go inside, talk to “Dances with Balrog”. He’ll give you a letter and you’ve to pass it to the job advancement instructor near Perion. After giving the letter, you’ll be given an errand to collect 30 Dark Marbles by defeating the monsters inside. Be careful to stock your potions up before you start collecting the 30 Dark Marbles. Once you’ve collected 30 Dark Marbles, talk to the instructor, and he’ll award you with a Proof of a Hero. Go back to Perion’s Shrine Warrior, and talk to “Dances with Balrog” once again, where then you’ll advance as the Spearman.

How to read this skill build? 16 – 18 means Level 16, 17 and 18 [Level 16 to 18]. For 20 – 20, it means only Level 20. The guide below is purely a personal recommendation and need not be followed. Each skill listed below has advices/tips shared by senior players to guide you in building your character!

Pearl of Knowledge:
Spearman class speciality is in mobbing monster, which means it deals more damage when it comes to eliminating many monsters at 1 time. However, when it comes to a single target, it deals less damage compare to the rest of the warrior class. Spearman is the only class which can be pure or hybrid type. Pure means uses only 1 type of weapon, while hybrid uses 2 type of weapons (spear and polearm). The reason being a hybrid is because spearman has different 3rd job skills, where polearm deals better damage if a particular skill is used, and vice versa. For example, sacrifice deals more damage when polearm is equipped due to its force swing attack (animation).

Below is the hierarchy order of Pirate advancement: [Warrior Main Page]
Pirate -> Gunslinger -> Vaklyrie (Outlaw) -> Captain (Corsair)
Pirate -> Infighter (Brawler) -> Buccaneer (Marauder) -> Viper (Buccaneer)

Pure Spear / Pure Polearm (Common Build)
This is for those who only wishes to train using 1 type of weapon!
30 – 30 : Spear/Polearm Mastery 1
31 – 36 : Spear/Polearm Mastery 3
37 – 38 : Spear/Polearm Booster 3
39 – 48 : Final Attack Spear/Polearm 3 [MAX]
49 – 49 : Spear/Polearm Mastery 1 [MAX], Iron Wall 2
50 – 50 : Iron Wall 1, Hyper Body 2
51 – 59 : Hyper Body 3
60 – 60 : Hyper Body 1 [MAX], Free 2 SP [Booster, Endure, HP Recovery, Iron Will/Wall, Iron Body]
61 – 70 : Free 3 SP [Booster, Endure, HP Recovery, Iron Will/Wall, Iron Body]
Summary – Total 121 SP [Free 32 SP]
Spear Mastery 20 [MAX] OR Polearm Mastery 20 [Max]
Spear Booster [6/20] OR Polearm Booster [6/20]
Final Attack Spear 30 [MAX] OR Final Attack Polearm 30 [MAX]
Iron Wall [3/20] / Hyperbody 30 [Max]
Reason for this build
Weapon Mastery is added first to boost up your default weapon mastery 10% to 60%. Hence, you would be hitting with random stable damage within (60 – 100)% range instead of (10 – 100)%. Booster is added to speed up polearm/spear attack since both of this weapons is much slower compare to sword/axe/blunt-weapon. Final Attack followed after Booster because it gives you 1 free automatic attack that happens within a split second without any cost to your mana (MP). Final Attack is much faster than Weapon + Booster. Iron Wall (aka Iron Will) is added to activate Hyperbody. Hyperbody is maxed after 3 SP is added into Iron Wall to maximise the potential of HP and MP usage, and allows you to explore dangerous area without easily dying. You would have 32 Free SP (Skill Points) once all the core skills above are maxed. These can be allocated into either Booster, Iron Wall, Endure, etc.

Hybrid Spearman (Unique Build)
This is for those who wishes to train using 2 type of weapons on different occassion!
30 – 30 : Polearm Mastery 1
31 – 36 : Polearm Mastery 3
37 – 38 : Polearm Booster 3
39 – 39 : Iron Wall 3
40 – 49 : Hyper Body 3 [MAX]
50 – 55 : Spear Mastery 3
56 – 56 : Spear Mastery 2 [MAX], Polearm Mastery 1 [MAX]
57 – 58 : Spear Booster 3
59 – 70 : Free 3 SP [Booster, Endure, HP Recovery, Iron Will/Wall, Iron Body]
Summary – Total 121 SP [Free 36 SP]
Polearm Mastery 20 [MAX] / Spear Mastery 20 [Max]
Spear Booster [6/20] / Polearm Booster [6/20] / Iron Wall [3/20] / Hyperbody 30 [Max]
Reason for this build
Polearm Mastery is added first to boost up your default weapon mastery 10% to 60%. Hence, you would be hitting with random stable damage within (60 – 100)% range instead of (10 – 100)%. The ratio of swing vs stab animation is 60:40, thus its best to use Polearm to deal more damage in early 2nd job. Booster is added to speed up polearm attack since it is much slower compare to sword/axe/blunt-weapon. Iron Wall (aka Iron Will) is added to activate Hyperbody. Hyperbody is maxed after 3 SP is added into Iron Wall to maximise the potential of HP and MP usage, and allows you to explore dangerous area without easily dying. Once all the polearm skills above are maxed, then proceed with spear mastery and spear booster. You would have 36 Free SP (Skill Points) once all the core skills above are maxed. These can be allocated into either Booster, Iron Wall, Endure, etc. You might notice that Final Attack is sacrificed. Reason being, Final Attack will not be used in 3rd Job (Dragon Knight). However, this is different for fighter and page as they will be using it till 3rd job.

hyper-bodyHyper Body (more info)
Temporarily increases the Max HP and Max MP of all members of the party around the area. This skill is what makes spearman very special and loveable in all boss party quest. Hyper Body increases all classes HP and MP so that they are able to sustain heavy damage from high level monster such as Zakum, Horntail, Papulatus, Ergoth, Pianus, Ahma and others.

Many high level players with their main (4th Job Magician/Thief/Bowman) have created a spearman mule to increase their HP and MP in highly dangerous training grounds. Magician profits from these the most because they need to spam their AOE skills (Area of Effect) such as Genesis, Blizzard, Meteo that consumes 3000 to 7000 MP per cast. They would be using Hyper Body + Power Elixir (heals HP and MP in %)

    Early HB Spearman
    30 – 30 : Spear/Polearm Mastery 1
    31 – 34 : Spear/Polearm Mastery 3
    35 – 35 : Iron Wall 3
    36 – 46 : Hyper Body

    note:
    Pro’s
    Good for getting Zhelm early
As a HB mule for Mages Ulti such as Genesis, Blizzard, Meteor and to give HB to those training at high Lv places such as Newties, Duku’s and Skele’s

    Con’s
Lack of attacking power in the early stages as mastery is never completed

Mastery for spear/polearm at Lv13 gives 45% is quite sufficient for attacking power. Then followed by Iron Wall 3 for requirement for Hyper Body and then followed by maxing Hyper Body.
