-
Step 1:
Delete all files in gameguard folder of maplestory folder, then try download gameguard from this link
http://update.nprotect.net/GameGuard/Install/MapleStorySG_GameGuard.exe
http://update.nprotect.net/GameGuard/Install/MapleStory_GameGuard.exe
.
Step 2:
Run the exe, choose remove to proceed, rerun the exe to install. then try to run maplestory.
Try 2nd setup if 1st setup is not working. The strange thing is the 2nd one is bigger and read this link

Extra
(Quote drakekhan) I found 1 post on vista patch from lineage1 forum
http://boards.lineage.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=642689&page=0&fpart=3&vc=1
The post claims that the file below is a nprotect patch for vista, i dunno whether it is true:
https://nprotect.ncsoft.co.kr/nProtect/keycrypt/npkcx_vista.cab
Extract it with winrar, copy all the files to maplestory (choose overwrite)
except the exe files,and npkcx.ocx

- Tablet PC Solution for Disabling Various Functions
Firstly, its because mine is a tablet PC. Which has the side bar which shows the keyboard thingy where u click and a small nifty keyboard appears. You got to go to your tablet settings(Just search in the start bar) and turn it off so it does not appear anymore.
Following that reinistall your maple and restart your computer.. Should work fine now
.
start -> run
regsvr32 /u “c:\program files\common files\microsoft shared\ink\tipband.dll”
to put it back
start – > run
regsvr32 “c:\program files\common files\microsoft shared\ink\tipband.dll”
restart/log off and log on to see the changes.
.
(For XP Tablet PC Users)
go to the start menu–> control panel–> Mobile PC–> tablet PC settings–> other tab–> go to input panel settings–> opening tab–> unselect show the input panel tab

Thanks Joe for the tip :)
My fren just resolved this blardy friggin irritating error on my laptop.
Try connecting a usb keyboard, then log in. If this is successful, can remove the USB keyboard and still use laptop keyboard to play. It worked for me.. but can’t guarantee it’ll work on ur kinda nprotect error..
