Title: MapleStory 2nd Job Pirate – Gunslinger Skills, Gunslinger Skill Build (Skill Allocation) with Explanation!

Requirement: Level 30
Head back over to Nautilus Port and talk to Kyrin. She’ll give you two options; One for Infighter and one for Gunslinger. Choose “Gunslinger” and then talk to Kyrin again. Click the very bottom option. She’ll warp you to a map with small Octopi that you must kill. Here’s the catch: You must use Straight/Double Shot to kill them. Moon Kick will only “MISS” them. Once you’ve collected all 15 items from those octopi, talk to Kyrin again. She’ll warp you back to Nautilus Port (inside her room, of course). Talk to her once again and she’ll advance you to Gunslinger.

How to read this skill build? 16 – 18 means Level 16, 17 and 18 [Level 16 to 18]. For 20 – 20, it means only Level 20. The guide below is purely a personal recommendation and need not be followed. Each skill listed below has advices/tips shared by senior players to guide you in building your character!

Pearl of Knowledge
Gunslingers uses bullets and guns. They need to hunt bullets from monster similar to Assassin Throwing Star. Gunslinger bullet have special bullets called capsules that has fire and ice element. Both of these capsules used with FlameThrower and Ice Splitter will deal full damage. However, both of those skill can be used with normal bullets, but deal half damage. Gunslinger have 2 useful skill for traveling which are Recoil Shot and Wings (Float).

Below is the hierarchy order of Pirate advancement: [Pirate Main Page]
Pirate -> Gunslinger -> Vaklyrie (Outlaw) -> Captain (Corsair)
Pirate -> Infighter (Brawler) -> Buccaneer (Marauder) -> Viper (Buccaneer)

Notice: Skill Name Modification (GMS) [Old - New]
Throwing Bomb – Grenade | Backstep – Recoil Shot | Fake Shot – Blank Shot | Float – Wings

Reason for this build
First point goes into Invisible Shot since it’s a mob attack. It’s your first real mob attack and what a great one it is. It works like a Hermit’s Avenger in that it goes through monsters in a straight line. I decided to get a 1 minute Booster early on to take advantage of the extra speed. Afterall, that is what Gunslingers specialize in. Mastery is maxed out right after to increase bullet capacity and to get rid of that horrible minimum damage. Invisible Shot is then maxed out. It has great range, horizontally and vertically, which makes sniping easy. Next comes Backstep Shot to increase mobility. It’s similar to a Hermit’s Flash Jump with a few differences. First of all, it is also an attack and it deals 260% at maxed level. It’s not spammable like a Hermit’s Flash Jump however. It can be used roughly every two seconds. The distance is increased as the skill level increases.

There are 20 Free SP leftover. Those can be used to max out Gun Booster or Throwing Bomb. If you don’t mind the shorter timer, you can leave Gun Booster at 11 and max Throwing Bomb, or you can max Gun Booster and leave Throwing Bomb at 11. Throwing Bomb isn’t a very useful skill because it requires a charge up, and the range is difficult to control. Invisible Shot is a better mob attack and it’s twice the speed of Throwing Bomb. My recommendation is to max Gun Booster and get 11 Throwing Bomb.

invisible-shot1Invisible Shot (more info)
Attack multiple monsters by quickly firing a round of gun, so fast that it’s almost invisible to the naked eye. This 2nd job skill will be your main attacking skill which will be replacing Double Barrel Shot once it is max! It deals 10% extra damage to a single target compare to Double Barrel Shot, and it hits 3 enemies (mob skill). Sounds like Shot Gun to me.

maplestory gunslinger wingsFloat / Wings (more info)
Jump with a longer duration of flight than a regular jump. It actually slows down your speed of fall (gravity), so you could do some stunts/attacks/charge in air. Very useful when you want to travel from 1 platform to another if the gap between the platform is very wide. Similar to Flash Jump which allows you to travel quickly across platforms such as Ludibrium (map that has many platforms). You can stay in air as long as you want! Since when pirate becomes Flying Class when they are meant for sea?

Invisible Shot vs Double Shot [Source]

Taken from KazzooTheBat’s and Tak3backer’s Gunslinger guide.
Double Fire = 144 shots/minute
Invisible Shot = 88 shots/minute

You will be using invisible shot at 2nd job as your main attack after maxing it to hit 2-3 monsters.
Invisible shot is more of a mobbing ability, whereas Double Fire’s speed shines on single targets.
Double Shot deals (80% X 2) damage, Invisible Shot deals total of (170% X 3) damage on 3 mobs.
Use Double Shot to finish off monsters that have 10% HP (life) after using Invisible Shot.
