Title: MapleStory 2nd Job Thief – Assassin Skills, Assassin Skill Build (Skill Allocation) with Explanation!

Requirement: Level 30
Head back to Thieves’ Hideaway once you’ve reached Lv 30, which is located at the cafe in Kerning City. Go inside, talk to Dark Lord. He’ll give you a letter and you’ve to pass it to the job advancement instructor near Kerning City. After giving the letter, you’ll be given an errand to collect 30 Dark Marbles by defeating the monsters inside. Be careful to stock your potions up before you start collecting the 30 Dark Marbles. Once you’ve collected 30 Dark Marbles, talk to the instructor, and he’ll award you with a Proof of a Hero. Go back to Kerning City Thieves’ Hideaway, and talk to Dark Lord once again, where then you’ll advance as the Assassin.

How to read this skill build? 16 – 18 means Level 16, 17 and 18 [Level 16 to 18]. For 20 – 20, it means only Level 20. The guide below is purely a personal recommendation and need not be followed. Each skill listed below has advices/tips shared by senior players to guide you in building your character!

Pearl of Knowledge:
Assassin specializes in range combat where they attack monsters from far. They could also absorb monster HP by using Drain. Assassins could deal Critical Damage to monsters (number pop up in red) but Bandit could not. The difficulty of playing assassin is hunting for throwing-star from monster. You could buy higher level throwing star from other MapleStory players in exchange for meso. The good thing about assassin is that they could jump and shoot. Other range jobs (Bowman/Magician) have hard time doing so.

Below is the hierarchy order of Pirate advancement: [Thief Main Page]
Pirate -> Gunslinger -> Vaklyrie (Outlaw) -> Captain (Corsair)
Pirate -> Infighter (Brawler) -> Buccaneer (Marauder) -> Viper (Buccaneer)

Reason for this build
This build is recommended for non-funded assassins where their equipment could not provide them additional weapon attack (from pure weapon attack or LUK equipments), critical throw helps alot in increasing the damage and stablizing the damage from Lucky 7. For funded assassins, they would max Haste first since their damage is sufficient to 1 hit KO monsters. Its best to max out primary skills or skills that boost damage (e.g. critical) before other supportive skills (e.g. booster/haste) as it will help alot in having to train on different types of monsters with higher HP.

claw-masteryClaw Mastery
Increases the mastery of throwing stars and accuracy, along with the maximum number of throwing stars to recharge. It only applies when the character is throwing stars. The main reason to max this is it helps assassin to store more stars within a throwing-star package. So it would take up less etc inventory space, and allow you to store less stars for more potions or other things. Its very handy in long battles (e.g. Zakum, Horntail, Pianus, etc or solo battles like Papulatus Clock, Crimson Balrog)

critical-throwCritical Throw
Enables the character to make a critical attack with throwing stars on a certain success rate. This skill is recommended to be max! This skill increases the damage of your attacking skill base on chances of occurring. If red damage pops up, it shows that Critical is being activated! This allows assassins to dish out more damage than they could not previously in 1st job.

endureEndure
Additional recovery for both HP and MP even while hanging still on a rope or a ladder. The higher the level, the faster the recovery time, along with recovering additional amounts of both MP and HP. Endure is pretty useful for dangerous areas such as El Nath (cold area) and Aquarium (water area) that reduces 20 HP every 10 seconds. However, there are not much SP left since Assassins have other greater priority skills for SP to be allocated. This is optional!

hasteHaste
Temporarily improves the speed and jumping ability of every member of the party. Haste allows Thief to travel faster and allow them to reach monster faster. It also helps to avoid monsters and enable them to jump from platform to another easily. Haste does not speed up your swimming movement in Aquarium (water world) however, if you are moving on land or jumping, it does increases those aspects. Great combo with Flash Jump (Hermit 2nd Job Skill) Haste is applicable only Dark Sight Thief! The speed stacks with Speed equipments too. It is commonly use in Party Quest as well (to speed up party quest or guild quest)

drainDrain
Absorb some of the damage dished out to the enemy as HP. The most one can absorb at once is the character’s MaxHP / 2, and can’t absorb more than the MaxHP of the enemy. This is also known as the meso saving skill. The more damage you could dish out on a monster, the more HP you can drain. That’s the reason why many assassins use drain skill on lower level mobs within a map, and use Lucky 7 on the monster that they are training. Drain allows Assassin to bring less HP potion during training session (leveling). Unlike Lucky 7, drain skill is affected by weapon mastery. So you need Claw Mastery to be max first before maxing drain else it would be really weak to deal damage in return for HP recovery.

thanks, I have corrected it . late reply

Can write on pure luk sin and normal sin which is better?

pure luck sin (PURE LUK) will outdamage normal sin
if and only if that sin has godly/decent equipments from the start.

normal sin will outdamage pure LUK assassins (also known as sin) at higher level (around Level 120) because
    – there are no weapons that has high attack which does not require DEX.
    – most weapons (claw) that does not require DEX has lower weapon attack.
    – weapon attack greatly contributes in thief damage because (5 LUK is equivalent to 1 weapon attack)

Pure LUK assassins will outdamage any Normal assassins given that MapleStory comes out with a new weapon (claw) that does not require DEX. Simple as that!

Currently, Pure LUK assassins needs to wear decent/godly DEX equipments in order to equip the claw (weapon) that requires a minimum amount of DEX.
