MapleStory Fire/Poison Wizard Skills + Skill Build

Title: MapleStory 2nd Job Magician – Fire/Poison Skills, Skill Build (Skill Allocation) with Explanation!
Useful Link: Mathslover Poison Guide

Requirement: Level 30
Once you’ve reached Lv 30, go back to Ellinia’s Magic Library, which is located at the highest point of Ellinia. Go inside, talk to Grendel the Really Old. He’ll give you a letter and you’ve to pass it to the job advancement instructor located at the north of Ellinia. After giving the letter, you’ll be given an errand to collect 30 Dark Marbles by defeating the monsters inside. Be careful to stock your potions up before you start collecting the 30 Dark Marbles. Once you’ve collected 30 Dark Marbles, talk to the instructor, and he’ll award you with a Proof of a Hero. Go back to Ellinia’s Magic Library, and talk to Grendel the Really Old once again, where then you’ll advance as the Fire/Poison Wizard.

How to read this skill build? 16 – 18 means Level 16, 17 and 18 [Level 16 to 18]. For 20 – 20, it means only Level 20. The guide below is purely a personal recommendation and need not be followed. Each skill listed below has advices/tips shared by senior players to guide you in building your character!

Pearl of Knowledge:
Fire/Poison Wizard is a special class that has a whole new different training style to level up. Instead of relying on 1vs1 (killing monsters 1 by 1), they are able to use Poison skills. Poison damages monster over time, so they just need to spend the time to poison all the monsters in the map, and kill them at a later time. Each monster you hit with Poison, you are creating a virtual character killing them slowly for you! However, poison does not kill the monster but leave them at 1 HP.

Below is the hierarchy order of Pirate advancement: [Magician Main Page]
Pirate -> Gunslinger -> Vaklyrie (Outlaw) -> Captain (Corsair)
Pirate -> Infighter (Brawler) -> Buccaneer (Marauder) -> Viper (Buccaneer)

31 – 35 : Fire Arrow 3
36 – 37 : Save 3 SP
38 – 38 : Fire Arrow 9 [Use Save SP here!]

48 – 48 : Meditation 2 [MAX], Poison Brace 1
49 – 57 : Poison Brace 3
58 – 58 : Poison Brace 2 [MAX], Teleport 1
59 – 64 : Teleport 3 [MAX]
65 – 69 : MP Eater 3
70 – 70 : MP Eater 2 [MAX], Slow 1
Summary – Total 121 SP
Fire Arrow 30 [MAX] / Teleport 20 [MAX] / Poison Brace 30 [MAX]
Meditation 20 [MAX] / MP Eater 20 [MAX] / Slow [1/20]
Reason for this Build
This build sacrifice Slow to add both primary attacking skills (Fire Arrow + Poison Brace). Slow is not important for players if they do not like slowing down monsters into snail’s pace. For those who want Slow, you could sacrifice Meditation (replace it with drinking temporary Magic Attack Potion) or sacrifice MP Eater (least important).

31 – 35 : Fire Arrow 3
36 – 38 : Save 3 SP
39 – 39 : Fire Arrow 12 [Use Save SP here!]

49 – 54 : Meditation 3 [MAX]
55 – 59 : MP Eater 3
60 – 60 : MP Eater 2 [MAX], Slow 1
61 – 66 : Slow 3
67 – 67 : Slow 1 [MAX], Poison Brace 2
68 – 70 : Poison Brace 3
Summary
Fire Arrow 30 [MAX] / Teleport 20 [MAX] / Poison Brace [11/30]
Meditation 20 [MAX] / MP Eater 20 [MAX] / Slow 20 [MAX]
Reason for this Build
This build was great before Ludibrium came out because Ludi has powerful monster that Poison Brace can take advantage off in the early stages of Fire/Poison Wizard.

Pure Poison Skill Build – Pizard (Recommended)
Note: This build requires you to use magic claw during level 30 to 50 most of the time.
30 – 30 : Teleport 1
31 – 40 : Poison Brace 3 [MAX]
41 – 46 : Teleport 3 [MAX]
47 – 52 : Slow 3
53 – 53 : Slow 2 [MAX], MP Eater 1
54 – 59 : MP Eater 3
60 – 60 : MP Eater 1 [MAX], Meditation 2
61 – 66 : Meditation 3 [MAX]
67 – 70 : Extra 3 SP (Skill Points)
Summary
Fire Arrow [0/30] / Teleport 20 [MAX] / Poison Brace 30 [MAX]
Meditation 20 [MAX] / MP Eater 20 [MAX] / Slow 20 [MAX]
Reason for this Build
This poison build will help you gain faster leveling speed compare to the ordinary common Fizard Build. Around level 53 and above, you will be training on higher level monsters with massive HP (life/hitpoints) where poison can take advantage of dealing K damage. Teleport is absolutely wonderful for mages. It is useful for getting around and avoiding getting hit while it increases training speed. Slow is useful on ordinary and boss monsters. It gives you ample time to make an escape without bumping into monster who is crawling towards you at snail’s pace. MP Eater is added later to save meso and Meditation to boost Magic Attack damage! Meditation is added last because you can buy temporary magic attack potion from NPC shop!

maplestory-mp-eaterMP Eater (more info)
Drain enemy’s MP after every magic attack unless enemy MP reaches 0 Mp. Works passively (automatic). Most people recommend to max this skill as it saves you a lot of Mp potions (saves meso) during 2nd and 4th job training. If you see Blue Stars encircling your character, it shows that Mp Eater is activated. Cleric love this skill because undead monsters has the highest Mp compare to other monsters. Mp Eater works on single and multiple-monsters. However, the total Mp drained for a single vs multiple is equivalent.

maplestory-meditationMeditation
Temporarily boost up the magic attack of party members nearby. It works on all jobs (warrior, thief, bowman, magician, pirate). However, magician is the only one who will be benefiting from this temporary magic attack boost since they deal damage via magic attack. Does not stack with magic attack potion booster. Recommended to be Max! This skill can be dropped as there are NPC potion shop selling temporary magic attack booster!

maplestory-teleportTeleport
Use the arrow keys to teleport to other places in the same map on a set distance. Useful to move around within large maps quickly, assist in training (reach to the monster quicker), escape from monster attacks (teleport away). Teleport is able to move you left, right, up and down. It is also required in Ludibrium Party Quest. In short, this skill is recommended to be Max. Saves your HP and MP potion!

maplestory-slowSlow
Temporarily slows down 6 opponents around you. Can’t use it on them twice at once. Works on boss monsters (e.g. Crimson Balrog, Anego, Werewolf). This skill could be dropped (Not a must to max this). This works handy when you solo boss monster alone, if your knockback does not work, it gives you sufficient time to teleport away while your enemy crawls towards you (slow effect). Slow can be cast while you are on rope/ladder too. Very useful to avoid bumping into monsters as the monster are crawling at snail’s pace. Could save lots of HP Potions.

poison-bracePoison Brace
Creates a poisonous water bubble, and shoots at an enemy. The enemy gets temporarily poisoned with a set success rate. Does not stack. Does not kill the enemy, however, reduce enemy’s Hp until it reaches 1. Great against monster with lots of Hp. Not many monsters are weak against poison element.
